One of the biggest problems facing many cities and towns is inadequate housing. This problem is most acute for seniors, veterans with disabilities, and low-income groups with little savings.
I have curated a large amount of data and research and considered options from various experts. The result is a design proposal for 'tiny home' communities. I intend to increase people's well-being and their community's support of life-affirming plans, policies, and programs.
Technically, this is called the "missing middle housing" problem. But as I got into it, I quickly realized that it was more than just a 'housing affordability' problem. Energy, environment, transportation, communications, food, and financing all need to be considered together. It's about the DESIGN of the whole thing, not just a part.
Admittedly it will take significant housing and zoning code reform, dedicated leadership, and citizen education. No, the map is not the territory, but without a map, we will wander around lost without a North Star or purpose to guide us into the future. Ultimately, it will be about "we," not "me."
